This plant, which is native to the temperate zones of Asia, has been used in traditional Chinese medicine for over 2000 years. It is used to relieve fever, fight infections and in particular to prevent and treat malaria.

Artemisia is valued for its strong blood-purifying properties and is considered to be extremely effective against parasites and otherinfectious agents. The antibacterial and anti-inflammatory effect of this plant is mainly due to the ingredients artemisinin and arteannuin.

Various studies have also shown that annual mugwort has antimicrobial, anticancer, antioxidant and antiviral properties.
