Getting in the mood for the Rauhnächte
When the wind gets colder, the fog hangs over the fields and the world around us seems quieter, a time begins that invites us to slow down. For me, December is the month of retreat – a natural space in between where body and soul seek warmth, peace and clarity.
While the darkness lingers longer outside, the light can grow stronger inside: through rituals, through scents, through mindful moments just for us. I particularly focus on the Rauhnächte – that magical threshold time between the years when we can say goodbye to the old and open up space for the new.

Which is particularly good for me in this phase:
- Incense – for cleansing and a clear mind
- Warm tea rituals – to calm the nervous system
- Diary & reflection – for review and reorientation
- Walks in the cold – fresh air for fresh thoughts
- Digital breaks – to really get back to myself
Plants such as mugwort, juniper and rose accompany me when I burn incense. They cleanse, strengthen and open – inside and out. It is not “witchcraft”, but a conscious perception: How am I doing? What can stay? What can go?
